Sportsmanship Pledge

Future Badger Basketball asks everyone to make this a great time for all. Please be a good sport in the stands and on the court. Respect the officials, other players, coaches and parents by not arguing, being kind and encouraging others. By doing so, you honor your team, the game and the community by showing good sportsmanship.

For Parents

  • Please make sure that your child has clean gym shoes; street shoes should not be worn on the hardwood playing surface.
  • Please let coaches know if your child is unable to make it to practices or games.
  • Arrive on time for games and practices. Also, pick your child up on time after practices and games as there will be no supervision after those times.
  • Please respect others' social distancing needs.
  • Extra work that you can do at home with your child to build skills is helpful, but please leave the coaching and officiating to those who have volunteered for these positions to reduce confusion and undue pressure on our children and volunteers.
  • If there is a problem, talk to the coach privately after the game.
  • Contact your coach or the Parks & Rec Sports Director for more questions or concerns.
  • Remember: it is not about winning; it's about learning, being active and having fun.

Skill Objectives

Fun and Fundamentals

This is the time to get children interested in basketball. They do not know what they are good at until they are given the chance. We want everyone to be given fair playing time, regardless of skill level.

All players should be able to start in at least one game. Our goal is for all players to be given an equal opportunity and, most importantly, a positive learning experience. There will be no tryouts in this program and all players should get equal court time. It is important for coaches to work together to create positive experiences for all participants.
