Mountain Bike Camps *capacity limit: 10 per camp*

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL CAMPS:

There will be no communication between registration and camp start, please review this information and contact us if you have additional questions prior to camp start dates.

CHOOSING A CAMP/LEVEL:

All riders must already be comfortable riding their bike, have the required equipment and have some experience in riding in more confined areas such as singletrack with small obstacles.

Intermediate+ riders should consider attending the Beginner camp first, as the skill-sets will carry over and it will allow more time to fine-tune those skills.

Please let us know if you are interested in being a Junior Coach (208)304-3603

Beginner: Should already have some experience riding Green/Easy singletrack trails such as Trail 201 at Section 16.

Ages 6-10 will learn correct use of front & rear brakes, shifting of gears, safe bike handling while cornering, climbing and descending. Introduction of trail etiquette and teamwork.

Ages 11-19 will learn and build confidence on the above plus focus on body position and refine their bike handling skills.

Intermediate: Should already be comfortable riding Green/Easy singletrack trails and trying out Blue/Intermediate trails such as those at Enchanted Forest of the Lower Basin below Schweitzer. Will be reviewing and refining the core skills (body position, braking, cornering, climbing and descending) in varied environments. Progressing to balance work, front wheel lifts, roll-downs, etc.

Please let us know if you feel that your age grouping would not be a good fit for your abilities.

Each camp is limited to 10 riders as is filled on a first registered/paid basis.

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT (none of this is provided for registrants):

  • Mountain bike- suited to your size and abilities. Bikes must be in riding condition and capable of off-roading: inflated tires, appropriate and functioning drivetrain, functioning brakes.
  • Helmet- REQUIRED.
  • Water bottle (mounted to bike or in a pack), pre-ride meal 1-3 hours before start time. Consider packing additional small snacks for along the ride.
  • Comfortable riding attire that is appropriate for that day's weather condition. Well-fitting, closed-toe shoes, gloves, rain jackets included in backpack, etc. NO loose shoes, no full-length pants that are loose around the ankles, etc.

Trailhead Locations:

Baseball & Softball

Please note:

This is not the registration for Little League. If you are interested in registering your child for Little League (separate from Parks & Rec baseball/softball), please see the link for their website under our "Recreation Links" page.

Due to their season being at the same time as ours, it may be necessary for our ages/boys & girls to play co-ed teams. This will only be able to be determined towards the end/at the end of registration. You will be notified.

If your child falls between the ages for baseball/softball and t-ball: if your child has never played before but isn't old enough for baseball/softball at season start- recommend signing them up for t-ball. We do not use tees in baseball/softball.

If your child turns 7 just barely into the baseball/softball season and has played t-ball for multiple years- recommend signing them up for baseball/softball.

Questions? Contact (208)304-3603.

Sportsmanship Pledge

Parks & Recreation asks everyone to make this a great time for all. Please be a good sport in the stands and on the courts or fields. Respect the officials, other players, coaches and parents by not arguing, being kind and encouraging others. By doing so, you honor your team, the game and the community by showing good sportsmanship.

Outdoor Sports Weather Policies

  • Lightning: If there is lightning within 6 miles of Bonners Ferry, practices and games are cancelled. This is checked via WeatherBug: https://www.weatherbug.com/alerts/spark/bonners-ferry-id-83805
  • Heat: At 92F practices/games are considered “optional”. This means coaches will need to contact parents and see who is willing to have their child practice/play, if the coach is willing to proceed. If there are not enough kids to practice/play, then that practice/game is cancelled. All participation is technically optional so if you feel it is too hot for your child, please keep them home. PLEASE always send them with plenty of water, cooling towels are nice as well. There will be no practices or games beyond 95F. There are a lot of sites to check temperature, we will be using the following as it shows the time it was updated at and is very current: https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?textField1=48.7&textField2=-116.31
  • Air Quality: All practices/games will be cancelled if Air Quality Index is >150 (anything in the Red zone or higher at https://www.airnow.gov/?city=Bonners%20Ferry&state=ID&country=USA).

  •   If you feel that any weather condition or air quality is not safe for your child, please keep them home from practices or games.

WEATHER CANCELLATIONS WILL BE MADE BY THE SPORTS DIRECTOR- however, coaches can call a game or practice in extreme weather conditions (ex. unexpected lightning storms).

Once the call is made to cancel, there will be no further changes for that day.
